Kingyo
Kingyo is one of the many cabarets that exist in Tokyo. What makes Kingyo a very special cabaret is that majority of the dancers here are transsexual women or “New Half” as called in Japan. But customers do not come to Kingyo to see the sexy “New Half”, but to see their professional performance of art. This is one of very few places where the transsexual women can work as professional without any discrimination in Japan. And the controversial contents of the show keep the customers attracted. The show deals with the issues that are not usually talked in public in Japanese society such as Kamikaze during the World War II, currently stationed American troops in Japan, ill-treatment of the disabled in Japan and so on. During the 70-minute-show, “New Half” dancers touch the Japanese taboo, performing the high-level artistic and acrobatic show.
