A terrorist bomb attacked
the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, on the 7 of August, 1998. The Kenyan
building next to the embassy collapsed. Hundreds of the Kenyans were trapped
under the debris. Soon after, the embassy was sealed off by the US marines.
Helicopters and ambulances started to arrive to rescue the people in the
embassy. No help was offered from the American side to the Kenyan side.
The Kenayans climed the debris and started a bear-hand rescue operation. The
same human being were dying. But one was carried away with a helicopter,
and the other was carried away on a broken door. The bomb aimed at the
embassy killed 213 Kenyas and 12 Americans. The Kenyans did not understand
why they had to lose so many lives. The Kenyans questioned, "Why
us?" No one has the answer.
