No to Beijing Olympics
On March 10, the monks from several monasteries in Lhasa stood up to begin a series of protests to mark the 49th anniversary of the failed Tibetan Revolt against Chinese rule. These protests turned into riots. Tibetans targeted Han Chinese settlers in Lhasa and burned the Chinese owned shops and restaurants. China says 18 Chinese civilians and one police officer died in the riots. The exiled Tibetan government says about 250 Tibetans were killed during the crackdown of the riots. Following this tragedy, exiled Tibetans and the sypathizers all over the world protested against the Chinese occupation of Tibet and the Beijing Olympic Games 2008.
